ADVANTAGES OF MODERN DIGITAL X-RAY OVER CLASSICAL X-RAY

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MODERN DIGITAL X-RAY AND CLASSICAL RADIOGRAPHY?

We strive to ensure that our radiographic examination is as harmless as possible for patients. In digital radiography, the patient’s load is 9-10 times less than usual. Let's talk about the lungs x-ray. With it, in the usual process, the patient receives a dose of 0.25 millisievert per shot, while when using digital x-rays – 0.025.
VISUALIZATION
We get a much better image. Moreover, it is post-processed using special programs. We can change the contrast, increase the desired fragment of the image, change the angle ... Of course, in classical radiography it is simply impossible, there is only one picture, and you cannot give additional radiation exposure. If on a digital device you can quickly see something and finish something else, if necessary, here it is simply impossible.
GETTING A COPY OF A PICTURE AT ANY TIME
Sometimes patients ask - "I lost the picture, give me another one." In the old x-ray there is a single photo. No duplicates are made, there is no way to repeat it without again irradiating the patient.
In digital radiography, this image is stored on the computer’s hard drive, it can be sent anywhere in the world in seconds, it can be printed as many times as necessary. This is thermal film, printing is done like on a regular printer, without any difficulties.
HIGH SPEED PERFORMANCE
The speed of taking pictures is also a huge advantage, while providing the patient with emergency care, for example, every minute is important. Literally in a matter of seconds, the doctor can already see the picture, in contrast to the “film story”, when the laboratory assistant needs to go to the laboratory, show the picture in several fluids, hold for a certain amount of time, rinse, dry, and only then doctor will see the picture. If the picture is not high quality, everything is redone. Now, without removing patients from the table, we can immediately adjust the picture, right in the presence of surgeons, traumatologists. They immediately receive a description from the radiologist and promptly begin treatment.
CONVENIENCE WHEN WORKING WITH SMALL PATIENTS
Convenience in working with children is also very important. During the “grandfathering” method, the patient’s exposure time is several times longer than during digital shooting, during this time a small child moves, and the image loses quality. With digital x-rays, the picture is taken almost instantly, not to mention the radiation load on the child.
NO RADIATION LOAD FOR DOCTOR
We work on a Siemens apparatus from the most modern line, recently we took measurements: practically no radiation is detected from a meter from the apparatus itself. Even when parents hold small children in their arms, this radiation practically does not apply to them.
CAN I DO DIGITAL X-RAY INSTEAD OF FLUOROGRAPHY?
It is not just possible: it is necessary. Now the Association of Radiologists of Ukraine is actively fighting to ensure that these old fluorographies are finally removed from us.
Opinion of the majority of the population and even some doctors that fluorography gives a certain lesser load is completely wrong! Fluorography was introduced when the state was obliged to carry out this screening program for the entire population to detect tuberculosis and cancer. Therefore, the cheapest method was developed to examine the entire population of the USSR. For fluorography, expensive films and solutions are not required, only gross pathologies are detected, with which patients are then sent for further examination for the same x-ray. And the radiation load on the fluorograph is 0.5 millisievert!
