04.04.17 Г. Medical Plaza Held Press-Conference on the topic:

"Early Diagnostics in Oncology Saves Life!"

Oncology: Cancer morbidity, disability and mortality take the second place in Ukraine. The consequences of cancer go beyond the medical problem and have a negative impact on the social and economic development of the country. The level of morbidity and mortality from cancer in Ukraine is constantly increasing due to the unfavorable environmental situation and the presence of the so-called "demographic transition", namely - the increase in the number of people over 60 years old, whose risk of cancer is significantly increased.

More than 150,000 cancers are detected in Ukraine every year and nearly 90,000 cancer patients die each year, 35 per cent of whom are of working age. The number of patients who die in the first year of illness (up to 40 per cent) remains high. By 2020, the number of first-time cancer cases can reach up to 200,000 per year, and the total number of cancer patients will be well above 1 million.

Today, lung cancer, colon cancer, stomach cancer, prostate cancer are the most common cancers among men, and breast, colon cancer, stomach cancer, lung cancer, cervical cancer among women.

The most important causes of cancer in Ukraine, according to WHO, are tobacco smoking (25% of all cancer cases in men and women), high alcohol consumption (14%), low physical activity (14%), obesity (21%), infectious agents (human papillomavirus and hepatitis B virus), carcinogens at work, use of solid fuels in the household (3%).

MC Medical Plaza also contributes to the goals of early diagnosis and quality treatment of cancer patients.

Screening programs have been developed for patients At MC Medical Plaza there is a possibility of involving an oncologist in routine diagnostic practice: mammography, ultrasound, computed tomography.

The main problem in the treatment of this disease is the late diagnosis - about 70% of cases of breast cancer are diagnosed at late stages, and then the chances of recovery are quite low.

Breast cancer can be cured. In case of early diagnosis, the probability of complete recovery is 94%.

MC "Medical Plaza" draws public attention to the need for early diagnosis of breast cancer: After 40 years - once in 2 years you should visit a medical institution for breast ultrasound, mammography, after 50 years - once a year. Every woman should be familiar with this problem, undergo medical examinations, be able to conduct self-examination of the mammary glands.

Screening programs are available at Medical Plaza: "Mammography + oncologist's consultation" or "Breast ultrasound + oncologist's consultation", "woman's examination", "man's examination".

Medical Plaza uses modern reproductive technologies in order to preserve reproductive function in case of need for specific treatment of oncological diseases.

A modern oncology department has been opened at the MC, which meets the European requirements for paramedical service and specialized medical care. The team of the oncology department of MC Medical Plaza includes reputable oncological surgeons with many years of experience, patient-centered junior and middle medical staff, modern methods of examination and monitoring of the patient throughout the course of treatment.

Together with the ART department, a program is being implemented to freeze embryonic material of reproductive age patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Plaza Medical is the first center in Ukraine to become a Global Partner of the Oncofertility Consortium (Chicago, USA).

Together with the Department of Oncology of MC "Medical Plaza" plans to hold medical forums on a permanent basis, concerning the issues of screening, diagnosis, treatment of cancer, as well as issues of supervision of such patients by related specialists.
